Hidden Rainbows

I watched it rain and then shine—
Days and nights inside your eyes,
I watched confusion clouded by fear,
And doubts heighten whenever I came near.

Your walls rose a feet higher every day,
With vines of thorns right on display,
I wonder if you know I’d climb it anyway,
No matter what you say.

I watched flames ignite your eyes,
As you tried to extinguish the fire,
With mountains of lies,
And an endless stream of goodbyes.

In the end you looked for me,
Right when I disappeared ,
Like a rainbow that once cheered
Behind clouds, waiting for thee.
